Ummi is a horror feature film set in Saudi Arabia about a man who gets a mysterious call from his estranged mother who claims she is dying but discovers upon visiting her remote date farm that she has no intention of ever letting him leave.
Ummi is an elevated horror film that explores the cultural obligations that we have to our parents and how they can be twisted and manipulated for malicious purposes. Pulling from elements of mysticism and the occult, Ummi is a twisted tale of treachery and witchcraft in rural Saudi Arabia.
Ummi was recently awarded the 2023 development grant from Red Sea Film Festival.
